How I use a knife

Remember when I said I’d write posts dedicated to you and me? It’s mostly been me. But this one’s for you.

There are three themes in life that I learned of through books, movies, and TV.

Books:

This book talks about a red strand of fate that connects us to each other’s soul mate (or destiny). It’s an invisible red string that attaches you to whatever your destiny is. It’s Chinese folklore.

Movies: Everything Everywhere all at Once

Story of a woman who made two drastic choices, and thus ended up living completely different lives in a parallel universe.

This movie introduces the concept that there are various universes, wherein a “different you” exists that is simply different because of the choices that you made in life. For example, the main character ran off with her husband. But I’m another universe, she chose to dump him and became a kung fu master celebrity. Then the movie goes into a million different “versions of you”.

TV: The Good Place

The time knife; is the phenomenon of observing a “million different realities” which are so parallel to each other, that they fold into a singular sharp blade. Watch the clip, Chidi explains it better.

Where is this all going?

I used to think that life was a circle of events. Same pattern, different year. I don’t know about you: but I dealt with similar people, things, situations, and places that occur each year. It’s a circle ⭕️

Then I became infatuated with the idea of parallel universes. Many years ago I was at a cafe, breaking down on a rainy day. I looked outside the window and wondered if there was “a me” in a parallel universe that was also in the storm— but coping better. “A me” that’s resilient because she made different choices in life that turned her into a stronger person.

It’s the same theme as the movie “Everything, everywhere all at once”. What blew me away from that movie was the concept that:

“You must do something completely wild/nonsensical in order to tap into “your parallel universe self”.

Paper cutting person

For example: the leading actor chewed on chapstick and purposely gave himself paper cuts, in order to tap into his “kung fu master” self from another universe. His nemesis jumped on a butt plug, in order to “tap into the universe” where she was a MMA wrestler.

This theme is so wildly exaggerated but it holds a golden kernel of truth:

If you want your destiny to change , you must do something completely non-sensical/out of character.

Which brings us to “the time knife”. I’m a visual person. I see the imagery that there are so many different realities that in unfolds into a sharp blade.

So imagine this: you do something completely out of character, therefore using “the time knife” to cut the ⭕️ pattern into a “red string of fate”.

Now your circular pattern of life becomes a red string that leads you to a different destiny.

Most of you enlightened one’s know about all these concepts.

I learned it all this year. All my life I’ve been submissive and I never stood up for myself. Therefore I was stuck in this ⭕️ of being stepped on. Then one day I freaked out on someone (completely out of my character) and it felt like a blade that cut through the pattern.

I don’t know where my red string is going, but I hope it leads to better things such as healthier relationships with boundaries. It really did feel like a knife, cutting through all that circular pattern of my life.

Where will it lead me? And to whom? Perhaps my red string is bora too. I can fly out last-minute to a different country, to find out. Courage. ⭕️ ♐️♑️
